Fresh off the heels of Daisy Duke’s savage VQ at the Peltch on Saturday, YHC was looking for some inspiration to get the pax moving. Envious of TeraVanilli’s recent pilgrimage to Memphis to see a Third Eye Blind concert, after a quick trip to the brick pile for some freshies and a stop by the recycle bin for some cardboard (thanks LaCroix!) I got to work.

I had nothing. Dice game? No, semi-played out and need the dice recalibrated. Trivia? No, nothing interesting about 3EB other than that they’ve gone through about 15 different people from their initial lineup and only the lead singer is original. What’s that they say? If everybody you meet is an asshole, maybe you’re the asshole… Got it, we’ll do a few rounds of ticket work and keep off the grass.

Thang 1: Mountain Climbers and/or Plank Jacks with a ticket-shoulder-tap merkin on “Graduate.” Semi-charmed kind of burn, but didn’t have the pain YHC was looking for. Did foster some mild chatter about whether or not one needs to repeatedly ask “Can I graduate?” instead of just graduating. Goose, from whom paternal advice flows as freely as breathed air, turned the question back to its origin – “it’s up to you.” Maybe my kids are right and “it’s really not that deep….”

Thang 2: Mosey to cut-thru #1 on The Stretch, deposit tickets. The 4 PAX and a Goose on a bike got a quick lap to open the lungs and see how Honeysuckle’s “good shoes” performed without fear of grass/muck penetration. As advertised.

Thang 3: YHC has been meddling with a timer app for tabata-style evolutions a la Safety Valve, still a work in progress as they seem to have too long of breaks. Or the active periods are too short or too long. Today: 5 rounds, 3 minutes each with ~20seconds of rest. Playlist entirety of 3EB’s catalogue of good songs (+/-9 songs).

Time was pressing and the motorcycle had driven by, so we picked up the tix and headed for the stage. Luckily had a few minutes left so in a moment of irrational decision making (it’s a hobby of mine), YHC declared we’d do 2 minutes of ticket Apollo-Onos. Like when underwater, 2 minutes is a long time. But Yankee Jeaux wasn’t there so it was 2 minutes of the most beautifully choreographed display of men bounding side to side, touching their ankles with bricks and enjoying what Wikipedia refers to as “post-grunge / power pop.” Wrapped things up with a 60-sec plank and called time.

Announcements, moderate intrigue/trepidation about AB’s double-header beatdowns this week (2-parter? sequel/prequel? Hipster music? Will we smoke cigarettes out of one of those long stick-things?). Show up Tuesday & Thursday to find out.
